John Altringham
I am a retired ecology professor living in Ilkley on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. The geology, wildlife and landscapes of the north of England and north west Scotland provide the inspiration for most of my work. I am self-taught, started with drawing and watercolours and made my first engravings in 2021. I am currently nearing the completion of more than 50 engravings that will illustrate a book on Scotland’s mountains.
