Ray Hedger

I was born in Swindon, Wiltshire (1944) and have been an artist since the age of 5, a professional artist for over 60 years, with work in public and private collections in the UK and abroad. I was introduced to wood engraving by Ken Lindley at Swindon School of Art. Whilst at Central School, Holborn, London I had life drawing and wood engraving instruction from Blare Hugh Stanton, Roderick Barrett and Gertrude Hermes.  I have taught privately and in adult education for many years in and around Gloucestershire.  Art Societies around the UK have invited me to give demonstrations, lectures and talks. I may be the only artist to have exhibited a selection of 30 paintings in ten Harrods windows. I have Illustrated two Gloucestershire poetry books, (‘Forest and Vale and High Blue Hill’, ‘Between the Severn and the Wye’), with wood engravings; poems selected by Johnny Coppin. I am still painting, engraving and exhibiting at the age of 81.
