Nicki Tait
Nikki is a printmaker, working between west Cork and Hertfordshire. She works primarily with wood - both wood engraving and woodcut - and draws much of her inspiration from the natural environment around the small Irish coastal village where her studio is based.
She sees this as a very detailed and inhabited landscape where echoes from the past reverberate, quite loudly, in the present. Old paths still meander; vacated structures are left, not tidied away; trees and stones endure, respected. In short, a landscape which evokes memories - decay and destruction on the one hand, but also rebirth and growth.
Nikki studied at the Royal Drawing School and at Heatherley School of Fine Art and examples of her work are held in several public and private collections, including Ireland's National Collection.
