Debbie Sutcliffe
Born in Saltaire, Yorkshire, Debbie studied briefly at Bath Academy of Art but soon left to follow her own path. Focussing for many years on the human figure, she developed a precise but minimalist style, hoping to convey a feeling of calm contemplation. Working on both wood and Lino she has exhibited with The Society of Wood Engravers since 2005 and her prints have also often been seen at the Royal Academy.
Now exploring a wider range of subjects, her love of the strength and beauty of a carefully crafted line remains. Recent projects include a limited edition letterpress book, Animals from Antiquity, featuring a series of linocuts drawn from the collections of Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum.
