Sue Scullard

Sue was born in Kent and now lives in the High Weald. She started wood engraving in 1980 at the Royal College of Art, taught by Yvonne Skargon, and began working as a freelance illustrator in 1983. Over the years she has engraved illustrations for Folio Society books, and other commissions including food packaging for a major supermarket, at the same time as making prints for exhibition. Her inspirations range from landscapes, particularly woodland, wildflowers, and gardens, to seascapes, mountains,  and rock formations, and also traditional architecture .

Sue has been a member of the SWE since 1984. She enjoys the decorative possibilities of mark-making with the engraving tools, exploring the textures and surfaces of her chosen subjects. She has illustrated `The Lives of the Later Caesars` and Flora Thompson`s `Lark Rise to Candleford` for the Folio Society.
